Monument to Peace Marathon in Kosice

International Peace Marathon in Košice regularly organized since 1924 is one of the oldest marathons in Europe and the world. Memorial of this major event stands on the Peace Marathon Square in front of the historic building of the East Slovak Museum. It was built by the academic sculptor Arpád Račko, who is also the author of the famous statues Košice city coat of arms. On the pedestal of the Marathoner statue are the names of the winners of the various grades of Košice Marathon.
