Museum of Shopping in Bratislava

Museum of Shopping is the only institution focused on collecting and presenting material and written documents about the development of commerce and restaurant services in Slovakia. The museum is housed in the historic building George Albert’s Curia in Podunajské Biskupice. Among the collections of this museum visitors can find completely preserved facilities of historic shops including different types of old weights for weighting goods and cash registers. The exposition relating to restaurant services consists of draft beer equipment, barrels, dining and beverage services as well as slot machines, gramophones, orchestrions which complete pub and restaurant atmosphere. The collection of the museum also contains the most varied forms of promotional items in the form of posters, boards, stands, advertising signs, which lured customers into shops.
