Pajštún Castle

Not far from Bratislava, just above the town of Borinka, lie the ruins of the great Pajštún Castle. The most famous steward of this castle was the legendary Sad Caspar (Smutný Gašpar). He was so miserable that nothing could really cheer him up. After many vain attempts, Caspar’s friends decided to make a deal with the Devil and got him a jester from hell. Just like the jester brought back the smile on Sad Caspar’s face, romantic ruins of the old Pajštún Castle put a smile on every visitor’s face, be it a history lover or an amateur of nature seeking refuge in its midst. When the visibility is good, the hill on which the ruins sit offers a nice view of the Alps in Austria. The area around Pajštún Castle has many places to sit and relax, among them is the town of Košariská, the Borinská and Pajštúnska vyvieračka springs or the Prepadlé Valley below the Dragon Castle (Dračí hrádok).
